Genuine artefact from Fota House. This glass jar with a tin lid would fit snugly into the red tin. This would be used to transport butter and it would slow down the spoiling of the food. People who were moving between towns and counties would also use this as a receptacle for their travel butter.

One of the jovial Irish anti-margarine rallies held in Betty's home, Fota Gardens. It was well attended by farmers and their families but also by the communities surrounding Fota House. There was fun to be had for all and each family was giving 2lbs of butter on exit.
